International Press Correspondence (‘Imprecor’) was the weekly journal of Communist International, published in several languages , including an English edition which was published by the Communist Party Of Great Britain. Later this edition was replaced by a journal of The Communist Party of Great Britain under the title News and Views, later World News, later Comment, and now Focus.
‘Imprecor’ is one of the main sources of the document of the Communist International and of the different parties that composed it. It contains articles by leading Communists and very full accounts of the activities of the revolutionary trade union and of Socialist political developments in different parts of the world. It is also a main source of information on various parts of the world. It provides the main information on various international campaigns. Some issues in the early years are lacking.
World News and Views, World News, Comment and Focus continue to cover in much the same way the international Communist movement and affairs, but devote more space to British politics, especially the Labour, Trade Union and Communist Movements.

Series 2: Newspapers 1916 – 1929
- The Call 1916 – 1920
- The Communist 1920 – 1923
- The Workers’ Weekly 1923 – 1927
- Workers’ Life 1927 – 1929
These newspapers, which were succeeded by the Daily Worker, were intended for general circulation among the working classes. They discussed and reported events in the Labour movements, and therefore form one of the main sources for British working class history, including the history of the Communist Party, the Shop Stewards, the Trade Union movement and the unemployed workers’ movement.
The first publication, The Call, became the official journal of the British Socialist Party, the largest Marxist organisation in Britain before the information of the Communist Party in July 1920. When C.P.G.B. was founded as the B.S.P. became part of it, The Call was incorporated into the first Communist press.
The Workers’ Weekly and Workers’ Life were especially concerned with working conditions, and their regular reports from voluntary worker correspondents are of particular socio-historical interest.

Series Three comprises a most important collection of ideological and cultural journals published by the Communist Party Of Great Britain or on its initiative.
The first of them, Communist Review, called The Communist (not to be confused with the newspaper of the same name in our Series 2: Newspapers 1916 – 1929) in 1927 – 1928, was designed to be a monthly theoretical journal dealing with problems of political strategy and tactics. Communist Review re-appeared again in 1946.
At the end of 1953 Modern Quarterly and Communist Review both ceased publication, and a new journal, Marxist Quarterly, was published by Lawrence and Wishart from January 1954 to January 1957. This was followed in October 1957 by a new official monthly from the Communist Party, Marxism Today. The new journal covers a wide spectrum of ideological problems in political strategy and science and culture.
The series as a whole covers all aspects of Marxist-Leninist ideology with considerable treatment of the International Communist and general revolutionary movement.
