The microfilm consists of a card index containing details of over two hundred thousand films produced throughout the world since the inception of the cinema. The index is on a simple A – Z basis, by original title with ample cross-references. The reels each contain approximately two thousand cards, and are boxed and labelled in alphabetical sequence.
It was originally filmed in early 1975.
The first one hundred and twenty reels contain the cards to 1974, including the very important card index to The Bioscope (see The Bioscope 1908 – 1932), which has been interfiled alphabetically. All new cards from 1975 to 1980 have now been microfilmed on twenty further reels.
