Illuminated Manuscripts At The Guildhall Library, London
The medieval manuscript collection at the Guildhall Library is a very fine collection of fascinating documents which provide highly accurate details of their times. The subjects covered include The Bible and religious festivals, medieval regional court proceedings and calendars/annual catalogues.
Among the manuscripts are: four outstanding Books of Hours, a sixteenth century Formularium, St. John’s Gospel, Johanes Glosatus and many more exquisite examples of the illuminator’s art.
The entire collection is captured on colour microfilm, bringing to life the magnificent decorations and illustrations which accompany these texts. It also serves as an important addition to the existing series of illuminated manuscripts on colour microfilm from World Microfilms.
