The collection of pamphlets at the Royal Commonwealth Society includes many rare examples and will prove of great value to scholars working in this field. They include T. Tryon’s: “Negros complain of their hard servitude… in the West Indies plantations” (circa 1680), W. Bosman’s description of the slave trade on the Guinea Coast (1705), Wllberforce’s letter to Talleyrand (1814), and works by Ramsay, Clarkson, Macaulay etc.
